W01 or W02 for a permanent court?

Start with W01

For a new school gym, community sports center or regular training facility, review the single-joist structure and plan it around the court area, floor-base conditions and maintenance needs.

Compare W02

For a university gymnasium or larger multi-sport hall, review the crossed double-joist layout against the hall’s sports programme, dimensions and project specifications.

Permanent flooring questions

Planning a permanent sports wood floor

Which permanent sports floor should I consider for a school gym?

W01 is designed for new school gymnasiums, community sports centers and regular basketball training facilities. W02 may also be considered for larger halls and broader multi-sport programmes.

What is the difference between the W01 and W02 structures?

W01 uses a 24 mm LVL single-joist structure with a 12 mm load-bearing board and 12 mm resilient pads. W02 uses crossed 30 × 50 mm pine joists with 12 mm resilient pads. Select against the venue brief and project configuration. The specification names joist and board layers, so compare surface construction in the solid vs engineered sports flooringsolid vs engineered sports flooring guide.

How should I choose between W01 and W02?

Start with the venue type and project brief. W01 is suited to school and community venues; W02 is suited to larger university gymnasiums and multi-sport halls. Our team can help review the floor plan and configuration with you.
