University and Multi-Sport Hall Flooring

Applications · Universities & multi-sport halls

University sports halls, community sports centres and multi-purpose halls run basketball, volleyball, handball and badminton on the same floor, often from early morning until late at night. LDK’s permanent sports wood floors are built for long daily schedules, with a modular option for halls that also host events. Planning a busy hall

What to Plan for Long Daily Schedules

  • Court layout. Which full courts and cross-courts the hall needs, and how they overlap.
  • Dividers and hoops. Ceiling-suspended hoops and divider curtains let several groups train at once – see the gym planning guide.
  • Floor height. W01 is 70 mm, W02 114 mm and W05 84 mm in total.
  • Site conditions. A flat, dry C25 slab and 35–50% relative humidity – full site requirements.
  • Lighting and sound. LDK can supply them in the same project.

FAQ

Multi-Sport Hall Flooring FAQ

Which floor is best for a university sports hall?

We recommend both permanent systems, LDK25W01 single-joist and LDK25W02 double-joist, for university sports halls. LDK25W05 modular is an option when the hall also hosts events.

Can one wood floor be used for basketball, volleyball, handball and badminton?

Yes. The courts for every sport you need are planned on the same floor in your free layout design.

What is the difference between W01 and W02?

W01 uses one layer of 24 mm LVL joists and is 70 mm in total; W02 uses a double-layer 30 × 50 mm pine grid and is 114 mm in total. Both use 12 mm resilient pads and a 22 mm surface. The hall plan should account for each support configuration and shared playing surface in the multi-sport hall flooringmulti-sport hall flooring guide.

How long does production take?

Typically 35–65 days after order confirmation, depending on the system and project size.
